Churros and Wine? Yes, Churros and Wine are wonderful together! Churros are similar to a cake so they work very well with Wines. Let’s see what wines pair well with Churros and let’s include some dipping sauces and sprinkles!
Oh, this is going to be a journey through your taste buds!
The Wines we are going to talk about are all good pairings for Churros so keep that in mind because you will find these to be mostly Sweet White Wines with one exception to my favorite thing to do with sparkling! Here is the BEST list for you to pair with and share with your friends.
Sparkling Rosé
Sparkling Rose is a wonderfully sweet and usually a little dry celebration wine. Because of these attributes, a Sparkling Rose will pair wonderfully with Churros! I would think maybe a light strawberry sauce would be quite good with the Churros while sipping on the Sparkling Rose.
Picture this late afternoon, cool breeze, backyard gathering with friends and family. You are chatting and sipping on a wonderfully chilled Sparkling Rose and you have paired this with a light strawberry sauce for your Churros. I would keep the sprinkles to a minimum. You don’t want to take away from the pairing of the strawberry sauce and churros.
The sparkling red wine you create yourself! This is my favorite!
Let me share with you one of the best little secrets in the wine industry! I learned this many years ago and I have always shared this fantastic GEM! I take my favorite sparkling wine which is California Sparkling Wine, and my favorite reds! You pour yourself a glass of the Hudson Sparkling and then you add to your glass a splash of the red. My favorite reds are big-bodied wines and have lots of berry flavors. Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Zinfandel, and Merlots are my top 3 reds.
What do you have now? The best berry flavors in your favorite Sparkling wine would pair well with a raspberry sauce and your fresh homemade Churros! Enjoy, that is all I can say!
Let’s talk about Chardonnay Port & Churros and Wine
On my 40th birthday, I had a Chardonnay Port for the first time, and WOW! It was fantastic! I can see how Chardonnay port would pair really well with warm homemade Churros. I would leave this pair very traditional, with cinnamon sugar lightly sprinkled on the Churro and a chilled glass of Chardonnay port. This is sipping wine and it’s sweet so go light on the sugar sprinkles and enjoy the combination! Have this at the end of your evening and really indulge yourself with this amazing pairing and good conversations.
Reds, Reds, Reds, let’s talk Reds!
To sum it all up red or white wine goes with Churros and homemade is the best, we all know that! While I was writing and doing some research for this page I thought about Red wine and how I would pair it with Churros. Sweet and spicy, bacon pepper jams, oh boy! the list is long and Red wines are amazing with bacon!!!! So have fun and enjoy your homemade Churros with spicy bacon jams.
